ABOUT JULIA

As a child, I attended grade school and middle school in Yamhill, Oregon, and graduated from Yamhill-Carlton High School in 2004. I started my family a few years after graduating and later commuted from McMinnville to Portland State University where I majored in Communications and took great interest in learning Russian. When I found out I had received a substantial scholarship to attend Willamette University, College of Law I was over the moon. While at Willamette, I focused on dispute resolution and I received a certificate upon graduation for my efforts. Additionally, in my final year, the Willamette Moot Court Board granted me the award of Best Trialist.

You might have seen me around the community; I put myself through college as a waitress working at many local restaurants. I have coached many youth soccer, basketball and volleyball teams, mostly with McMinnville Parks & Rec. and I have volunteered my time at the Salvation Army food bank. I love keeping busy almost as much as I love my community.

Having spent almost a decade as a single mom of two children, I understand from a very personal level the stresses that can go with that experience. The struggle to financially support your family, the struggle to keep your children in safe situations and the fear that despite your best efforts, it won’t be enough. This is why I decided to focus my practice on family law. I understand that each family is unique and can take many different forms and I understand that every relationship looks different from one to the next. I remember how hard divorces and custody battles are to navigate and I know how much children can benefit from a positive co-parenting relationship. I look forward to using those very personal experiences to guide others through the maze that can be our legal system.

ABOUT ANDIE

I grew up in Sherman County, Oregon—in a small-town setting so small it makes McMinnville feel like a big city—where my first job was driving combine for wheat harvest. I graduated from Sherman County High School in 2014. I went to college at Pacific University and graduated a year early in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing, also receiving Cum Laude honors. After graduating from Pacific, I took a gap year to study for the LSAT, moved to Dayton, and took up a job at a law firm in McMinnville. I’ve lived in Yamhill County ever since.

I decided to apply to law school because I felt compelled to use my skills and resources towards helping people. When Willamette University College of Law offered me a Presidential Scholarship to attend school, I knew that would be my path to do exactly that. While in law school, I gained a wide range of experience through classes, jobs, externships, student organizations, and extracurricular activities. I achieved several awards and recognitions, including the Moot Court award for Best Trialist, induction as a National Member of The Order of the Barristers, and graduating in the top 10 students of my class with Magna Cum Laude honors.

Outside of the law, I am just another member of the community. I love basketball, enjoy exploring the outdoors, and appreciate cozying up with a good book. Being a lawyer is simply another way I contribute to my community. I know that everyone’s life experience is different. I understand that many different challenges bring people to the same place: the courtroom. And I want to be there with you to face those challenges head on.
